He interacts meaningfully with the Kujidoji crew. Starting the episode off with us seeing Agito using Storm and Flame forms was just the tip of the iceberg. Really hammers home the point that the person under the suit matters just as much as the powers.īest tribute by a long-shot. Even if it was probably an expected callback for those that watched Agito, I sincerely loved that Shoichi just went and put on G3 without hesitation after Uhr took Agito from him.

(Also thank you writers for at remembering Geiz has super speed!) (A very sharp contrast to the Time Jackers, where the questions are slowly piling up on Swartz each episode.) My only complaint is that I wish Tsukuyomi did more with her Time Jacker powers than just help Shoichi, though to be fair it at least feels more consistent and satisfying of a development than what we got with Vernage. We finally have the team together, not as a bunch of selfish asses with their own individual goals but an actual team that trusts each other, rolls their eyes at each other's stupidity, and is good at airing their grievances with each other. Like seriously every Zi-O episode before this one would've automatically become somehow better if they just had the Rider's theme appear at the proper time in a fight because if Decade was an opportunity to recycle suits, Zi-O's almost like an opportunity to reuse everything else about what makes the older shows great.Įven as good as the Another Riders are I actually find myself liking it way more that the Time Jackers tried just to flat out turn someone into the actual Rider as a villain - it just makes so much more sense in the whole grand scheme of "well, we're trying to make a Kamen Rider King, right?"Īs for the Zi-O part - I feel like Zi-O has had this very rough, awkward journey as a show to really make itself a good series, and while it's kind of meh that it took 30 episodes to get there the payoff is really satisfying. The Rider getting their powers stolen but still contributing as themselves, finding ways to still participate in the fight because Kamen Riders fight for the justice of the people, teaching the new generation lessons in true Gokaiger fashion and most importantly PLAYING THE THEME MUSIC. THIS is how a Kamen Rider tribute episode should've been done from day 1.
